Cultural Diplomacy

Wantok collaborates with communities to preserve and share vital songs, stories, and cultural expressions. By fostering pride and identity, we promote language retention, youth engagement, and strengthen social unity. We also partner with governments to create programs that enhance cultural diplomacy.

Career Pathways

We empower young people to cultivate creative industry skills and forge sustainable careers while integrating their cultural practices into music. In locations such as Bougainville, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste, emerging artists receive mentorship from First Nations Australian artists in music production, songwriting, performance, and publishing. This initiative fosters the next generation of artists and strengthens cultural tourism, while also building strong networks among diverse regional artists.

From Oceania to the World

Wantok has proudly financed, developed, produced, and marketed over 60 extraordinary releases from First Nations artists across Australia and Oceania. Our work has garnered prestigious recognition, including ARIA Award Nominations and APRA Awards. We take immense pride in mentoring trailblazers like Emily Wurramara and Ngaiire, helping them launch their successful mainstream careers. Additionally, we foster enduring partnerships with artists such as Uncle Frank Yamma and George Telek, supporting their rich and fruitful journeys in music.

Live Performance

As well as supporting our artists to tour and perform at festivals and venues around the world, we curate cross-cultural events and showcases, such as our Sing Sing concerts, which have been staged at events such as the Sydney Opera House, the London Olympics, the Commonwealth Games and WOMADelaide.

Social Impact through Music

We support artists to speak out on social issues such as

gender-based violence (Emily Wurramara and George Telek),

resistance music by Timor-Leste freedom fighters, and

the 1998 Byak Massacre in West Papua.
